Dive into Öland's rich geological prehistory at the Fossil & Stone Museum. Discover rare genuine meteorites, fossils, and life-size models that bring millions of years of natural history to life in an engaging and educational setting.

Step into a world where Öland's geological past comes alive at the Fossil & Stone Museum. Located in the scenic Skäftekärr, this charming little natural history museum offers a unic collection built over nearly 50 years. From spectacular meteorites and genuine fossils to exotic finds from around 25 countries, the exhibition paints a vivid picture of life from "primeval times to the Ice Age."

The journey begins with Öland's fossil treasures, first documented by Carl von Linné in 1741. Explore realistic replicas, such as a 42,000-year-old baby mammoth from Siberia, and admire authentic prehistoric fossils from dinosaurs, sharks, mammoths, and more.

The museum also features a small souvenir shop with fossils, crystals, and rare stones. This is a memorable outing for both children and adults, perfect for curious minds.

  • Examine authentic fossils, meteorites, and Ice Age relics up close.
  • Experience Öland’s 500-million-year history through interactive displays.
  • Take home a piece of history from the museum’s fossil and crystal shop.

This advanced booking includes an entrance ticket and a guided tour only in Swedish for groups or individuals looking for a more "living"  experience.

  • Entrance ticket with a "live/interactive museum tour" lasting approximately 1 hour.
  • Activities designed especially for inquisitive visitors, allowing them to study objects under a microscope, physically touch, smell, or guess the items—if they dare...!
  • You are eligible to receive a full refund of the booking amount if you cancel your reservation at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.
