Ålleberg - Gold treasures, legends & magical waters

On this taste and experience hike, we will explore the place using different senses. Flowers line our path, and the scents of summer rise from the ground. At some of the stops, local products will be offered that connect to the area's natural and cultural history. In this way, we will experience the taste of the table mountain and the Falbygden region.

We gather at the top of Ålleberg by the Gliding Museum. The hike starts through the fantastic deciduous forest, down to Ålleberg’s slope where seven springs flow out of the mountain. We continue upward to the clay shale ridges and the discovery site of the Ålleberg Collar – Sweden’s third-largest gold neck collar. Below the gigantic diabase pillars, the nature is mystical and invites stories about the riders said to sleep inside the mountain and about the troll mother Ålla.

Once back on the plateau, we stop above the diabase pillars and enjoy the agricultural landscape spreading out below and the wide views towards the Åsle valley.

If we are lucky, the weather will be good for flying and hang gliders as well as gliders may sweep over our heads. We finish our lovely hike by enjoying the final taste experience of the tour on the western slope, with a fantastic view of Falbygden.

Start and finish at the Gliding Museum. We will hike approximately 4 km on trails, with some steep climbs. We will descend to the plateau via stairs. The trails vary in quality – some are well maintained and accessible, while others may be worn by grazing animals.

Dress according to the weather and wear good shoes. Toilets are available at the meeting point.
