Welcome to Klasatorpet, where you can experience an authentic 19th-century croft. Here, you can enjoy the calm of nature while gaining insight into what life was like in the rural Småland countryside in the past. This is also where the film The Emigrants was shot in the late 1960s.
In the quiet of nature lies Klasatorpet, carefully preserved and maintained by the Långasjö Local Heritage Society. Here, you can step straight into history and experience what life was once like for poor crofters. Bring your family, your friends, or come on your own for a while. Sit on the steps with a basket of coffee, listen to the birdsong, and feel the peace that surrounds the croft. There is space here for conversation, reflection, and a break from the pace of everyday life.
During the summer, there are also animals at the croft, as well as a beautiful herb garden. Children can try Kristina’s swing and watch the grazing animals in the fields.
Klasatorpet is a popular destination in Vilhelm Moberg’s Emigrant region. It is best known as the filming location for The Emigrants (1968), where the croft portrayed the home of Karl Oskar and Kristina, “Korpamoen.”
Drinks and ice cream are available for purchase at the entrance, and handicrafts and souvenirs are sold in the entrance shop. Accessibility for wheelchairs is limited, but an outdoor dry toilet is accessible.
