Visit Heljesgården and learn about daily life when the farm was run by siblings Lars and Elsa, about the buildings, the flowers and trees, and how the farm is maintained today.
Heljesgården is located on the ridge within the Hornborgasjön Nature Reserve. The farm is managed by the Västergötland Museum. Siblings Lars and Elsa were the last of the family to run the farm, and they were determined to preserve it as a living cultural heritage site. The farm showcases local agricultural traditions from the 1800s through the interwar years. Everything—both big and small—that tells a story about daily life on the farm has been left in place. The farmyard has always been mowed with a scythe, which is why you’ll find every imaginable flower and herb there during the summer.
The guide will meet you at the farm’s parking lot. Language: Swedish. Meeting place: Heljesgården in Bolum. Accessibility and restrictions vary depending on the farm environment. Please respect any closed gates you encounter in the pastures; there may be animals inside.
